Jazz in Juhègues

Three exceptional evenings in an enchanting setting!

At Juhègues, jazz is lively, popular, burlesque and sometimes even a little flippant!

Whether they play New Orleans, Boogie Woogie, swing or ragtime, our selection of artists is above all warm and generous with the audience.

Perhaps this is one of the keys to the festival's success.

Jazz à Juhègues: the off!

Our festival also supports local and regional artistic creation

by organizing the "Apéro Jazz" evenings during the summer season, moments "off" from the festival. These free, festive evenings are a great opportunity to discover talented musicians while sampling fine local wines.

Torreilles and jazz... it's a long story!

From the thirties onwards, jazz found a particular echo in Torreilles, with a craze so strong that it even gave rise to a group: "Exotic Jazz".

This dynamic combo introduced generations of Torreillans and Salanquais to this new music, free and rebellious, straight from the USA.

At the dawn of the 21st century, a group of enthusiasts, inspired by this heritage and guided by Pierre Aldegon, invented the "Jazz à Juhègues" festival. Dedicated to traditional jazz, the festival was already defined by its venue, the Juhègues chapel, a theater of dreams and a privileged witness to unique, exceptional moments experienced by artists and audiences alike.

Now in its twentieth year, this festival, featuring a host of renowned artists, has become a fixture on our destination's summer cultural scene.

They came...

In 20 years, what magical moments we've experienced, what encounters and exchanges with exceptional artists, what musical journeys, from Paris to New Orleans...

From Didier Lockwood and Claude Bowling to Gunhild Carling, the Swedish "bombshell" with exceptional vocal and musical talents, Nirek Mokar, the boogie-woogie prodigy, young Catalan virtuosos under the direction of Joan Chamorro, and the most famous big bands of southern Catalonia... Over the years, our programming has won over a loyal and numerous audience of enthusiasts.
