The unmissable rendezvous for lovers of tradition and conviviality!
For a weekend, the Juhègues chapel is the setting for the first major outdoor festival of the spring.
A true ode to fraternity and Catalan identity, the Aplec de Pâques (Catalan for "gathering") attracts large numbers of faithful from all over the department.
Between the profane and the sacred
at the heart of tradition
The Easter festivities perpetuate a tradition that is deeply rooted in the Church. Thus, in the morning, a time of meditation in the Notre Dame de Juhègues chapel allows many parishioners to celebrate Easter. This special mass is led by a cobla, a musical ensemble that is a staple of the sardana tradition.
"Ballada" of sardanas
After the solemn celebration
Lovers of sardanes, the traditional Catalan dance, gather around a glass of friendship to the sound of the cobla. "Les Casenoves", who have been delighting their faithful fans for more than 20 years, invite everyone to join in.
A fraternal day
Since 1998
Inspired by the "Aplec de Santa Caterina" in Torroella de Montgri, our twin town in southern Catalonia, this day, so dear to the hearts of Torreillans, has a very special flavor.
While the sardanas are still ringing out in the open-air theater, the first crackling embers can be heard. The grill masters launch the long-awaited highlight of the day: the meal!
Little by little, groups form. Some, who had arrived in the morning to take their places, move on to the courtyard, others to the pine forest...
It's customary to bring your own meal for this giant picnic, and to take advantage of the grilling areas provided to finalize its preparation: Easter omelettes, snails, blood sausages, Catalan sausages, roustes, not forgetting a few bunyetes... The smells of good food fill the site to the delight of gourmets.
To keep the party going, in the afternoon
Improvised pétanque competitions take place under the plane trees, while the Théâtre de Verdure comes alive to the sound of a musical ball.
Edition 2024
Easter concert by the Sostenuto duo
Baroque music, the music of the Age of Enlightenment, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. In this universe, the Sostenuto Duo works its magic, sharing the strength, color and evocative power of a symphony orchestra with a few strings and the singing of a flute. The unique alliance of these two marvelous musicians gives a second life to forgotten or neglected gems of classical music.
Sunday March 31, 5:30pm, Juhègues chapel. Free admission.
